Recycling your old paper stationery... →
into new paper stationery.
I wonder how efficient this is? Effient for marketing purposes I would imagine - but I would be genuinely (not snarkily) interested to see how much more energy this uses, and weighing that up against the cost of new paper, or new-to-you recycled paper. The question is mainly based around economy of scale. It’s not very efficient to do this in small batches, is...

One Pager: easy site set up for small business →
This looks great. One of the things I found as a freelancer is that a lot of small business just don’t have the content, time, money or ability to create a bigger website. This looks like it could be a nice solution.

Another way to publish online. Just as I was thinking ‘oh no not another one to try and follow’ (prompted by the fact I came across it when i realised someone i already follow on Tumblr, posterous and Typekit was using it), I read the headline ‘You own your writing’. Of all of the plus points of the system, that seems like the winner.

I find communication of this type fascinating. It’s well written - and very brave. Hope it all pans out.

It’s wrapping paper. If you think it’s a winner, just make it. It’s not hard.

Slideshare: The Real Life Social Network →
We all know a lot of this I imagine - if you haven’t experienced the issues with different social circles coming together awkwardly in one place by now then I’m guessing you don’t use social software - but still, some interesting things to think over.
Also, its a year old, but I’ve only just read it. So sue me.

How to get more women in tech →
Doesn’t have the answer, but its a fair point, nicely made.
(Edit, and right on time i get a marketing email from a start up which begins
‘Ladies’
and ends
‘Take control. It’s girl time all the time.’
In general life, it’s not an issue that will be solved any time soon.)

Somehow I’d not seen his work before. Amazingly varied folio, from graphic design to illustration. Often it feels like designers / illustrators have a set style - feel like this isn’t the case here, which is interesting (but I could be wrong).

"... to remind me that there's more to me than...
I wrote a bit about ‘making’ recently, and had this at the back of my mind. I’ve just found the link again. It’s a piece of tatting, about which the creator writes:
“It’s clipped to my office cubicle wall at the present moment to remind me that there’s more to me than just my job. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in work that I forget that work is not who I...

DM fail, or no? →
The cynic in me - and the fact the tweets are still there after all this time leads me to believe that was no DM fail. Whether or not money changed hands is another thing entirely. (Someone in the comments also mentioned there was no such product on their menu).
I love and hate this stuff in equal measure. How can anyone ever read anything and actually trust it?

An inauthentic character, surely? →
“Like many designers, I am drawn to all sorts of handmade printing processes. I find the imperfections of each is what makes them so intriguing, from the mottled textures created by letterpress, to the chalky quality of screen printing ink. I try to incorporate these textures into my work as an illustrator and designer because they add authentic character to work I do on the...
